*Ensure all children have access to a broad English curriculum including a range of book genres

*Explicitly teach new grammar skills and allow children time to embed and apply skills in different contexts

*Create a culture where children love to read and can express their thoughts and ideas clearly and creatively

*Encourage children to read for a range of purposes and encourage a love of reading
