Our Curriculum Intent is to:

  1. Ensure Progress and Depth of Knowledge
We design a curriculum that carefully sequences learning to build knowledge and skills progressively over time. Our curriculum is thoughtfully planned to break down complex concepts into manageable steps, ensuring all children, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds, can access and thrive in their learning.

  2. Promote High Expectations and Enjoyment
We foster a climate of high expectations where a love of learning can flourish. Our curriculum encourages curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, inspiring children to develop a lifelong passion for learning across all subjects, including English and PE.

  3. Support Inclusion and Ambition for All
We are committed to an inclusive curriculum that is ambitious for every child. We regularly review and adapt our curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our pupils, ensuring that barriers to learning are identified and addressed collaboratively. This includes targeted support for children with EHCPs and those eligible for pupil premium.

  4. Embed Our School Values Through Learning
Our curriculum is aligned with our values, promoting resilience, empathy, respect, independence, courage, and ambition in every aspect of school life. We aim to develop well-rounded children who are prepared for the challenges of the future and contribute positively to their communities.

  5. Equip Staff Through Ongoing Development
We invest in the professional development of our staff, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and research-informed practises to deliver the curriculum effectively. Staff are partners in curriculum design and review, ensuring it remains relevant and responsive to our school context.

  6. Use Assessment to Inform and Enhance Learning
Assessment is integral to our curriculum, used not only to track progress but to inform teaching and provide timely interventions. We ensure that assessment practises are meaningful, supporting children’s learning journeys and enabling teachers to identify and address gaps promptly.

  7. Ensure Whole-School Coherence and Support
Our curriculum intent is supported by transparent whole-school policies that reinforce our educational aims. These policies provide consistency while allowing appropriate flexibility to meet subject-specific needs, ensuring the curriculum is delivered effectively across all year groups.
