At Edward Pauling Primary School, History helps children to understand the world around them by exploring the people, places and events that have shaped our past. Through engaging topics and carefully sequenced learning, pupils develop a sense of chronology and an understanding of how Britain and the wider world have changed over time.

Children learn to ask questions, investigate evidence, identify change and continuity, make connections and form their own conclusions. They explore a range of historical sources, including artefacts, photographs, documents and accounts, developing the skills needed to consider different perspectives and understand how historians find out about the past.

Our curriculum enables pupils to explore significant individuals, civilisations and historical events, while making connections between local, national and global history. Through visits, artefacts, stories and practical experiences, children develop a curiosity about the past, a respect for different cultures and an appreciation of how history continues to influence our lives today.
