At Edward Pauling Primary School, we want every child to share our passion for History and develop their sense of curiosity about the past.
We aim to:
* Build and develop knowledge and skills progressively, using a curriculum design that reflects National Curriculum outcomes
* Introduce children to significant events, people and ideas from a broad range of periods, both in British and World History
* Ensure children build a chronologically secure understanding of the past, so they can see how events connect over time
* Explicitly learn how to make informed interpretations of past events and understand that history isn’t just a set of facts, but a way of exploring why and how things happened
* Create fun, engaging ways to explore the past through storytelling, role play, discussion and hands-on activities
* Support children to develop a love of history by exploring real people and events and showing how the past connects to the world around them
