At Edward Pauling Primary School, we want to inspire our children to become curious and explorative thinkers with a diverse knowledge of the world – in other words, to think like geographers.
We aim to:
*Build understanding of place, space, and scale, while developing enquiry skills, map work, and ability to think critically about human and physical processes in the world
*Ensure all our children develop a secure understanding of the world around them, so they are equipped to think critically, act responsibly, and engage confidently as global citizens
*Explicitly teach map-reading skills, and fieldwork techniques, so our children can apply their knowledge to make connections between places, and deepen their understanding of the world
*Create an awareness of how Geography shapes lives at multiple scales and over time. The hope is to encourage children to become resourceful, active citizens who will have the skills to contribute to and improve the world around them
*Develop the children’s confidence to question and observe places, measure and record necessary data in a variety of ways and analyse and present their findings
