At Edward Pauling Primary School, Music gives every child the opportunity to discover, create and enjoy music. Through a rich and varied curriculum, pupils develop their musical knowledge, confidence and creativity, while experiencing music from different cultures, traditions and periods.

Children learn to sing and perform, listen and respond, compose and improvise, developing their understanding of rhythm, pulse, melody, pitch, dynamics and notation. They explore a range of instruments and learn to play both individually and as part of an ensemble, developing their ability to listen carefully, perform with others and express themselves musically.

Our pupils are encouraged to experiment with sounds, create and refine their own musical ideas and respond thoughtfully to the music they hear. Through regular opportunities to perform and share their work, children develop confidence, collaboration, creativity and a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of music.
