At Edward Pauling Primary School, Computing equips children with the knowledge and skills they need to become confident, creative and responsible users of technology. Through a broad and progressive curriculum, pupils learn how digital technology works and how it can be used to solve problems, communicate ideas and create digital content.

Children develop their skills across computer science, information technology and digital literacy. They learn about algorithms, programming, coding, sequences, repetition, selection and debugging, developing their ability to think logically and solve problems systematically. Pupils use a range of digital tools to create, edit, organise and present information, including text, images, animations, audio and presentations.

Our pupils are encouraged to design, create, test, evaluate and improve their digital projects. They develop an understanding of how data can be collected, represented and interpreted, while learning how computers and networks enable us to communicate and access information.

Digital citizenship is an important part of our curriculum. Children learn about online safety, digital footprints, privacy, personal information, respectful communication and responsible use of technology. They are encouraged to make safe and informed choices when using digital devices and the internet.

Through Computing, pupils develop computational thinking, creativity, resilience, problem-solving and digital confidence, preparing them to use technology effectively, safely and responsibly both in school and in the wider world.
