Nursery is a fun, creative learning environment where children learn through play, imagination, and exploration. Each day is filled with exciting activities that are carefully planned in line with the Early Years Framework. We provide a high-quality learning environment, both indoors and outdoors, where children can grow in confidence, develop their thinking and communication skills, and build independence, all while having lots of fun! We can’t wait to share our many adventures with you.

Reading for pleasure:
Each week, we send home a book from the school library for your child to enjoy. The children love choosing their own book in the library every Friday! Books should be returned the following Thursday so they can be changed weekly.
Reading records are provided for you and your child to share what they thought about the book they selected. This is a lovely way to encourage a love of reading and talking about stories together.
Helping Your Child Be Independent:
Self-care: Let them dress themselves, wash hands, and tidy up.
Choices: Offer options, like what to wear or which story to read.
Responsibility: Give small jobs, like watering plants or helping set the table.
Social skills: Encourage sharing, taking turns, and playing with friends.
Play & learning: Let them explore, build, and make decisions in games and activities.
Little steps every day help children grow confident, capable, and curious!
Helping Your Child Develop at Home:
1. Language & Communication
Talk to your child about their day and things around them.
Read stories together and ask questions about the pictures and characters.
Sing songs, rhymes, and play word games.
2. Physical Development
Encourage outdoor play: running, climbing, jumping, riding bikes or scooters.
Practice fine motor skills: drawing, painting, threading beads, or simple cooking tasks.
Play games that involve hand-eye coordination, like throwing, catching, or building blocks.
3. Social & Emotional Development
Encourage sharing, taking turns, and expressing feelings with words.
Praise effort and independence, not just results.
Role-play situations to teach empathy and problem-solving.
4. Thinking & Creativity
Offer puzzles, building blocks, or sorting games to develop problem-solving skills.
Encourage imaginative play: dress-up, role-play, or storytelling.
Ask open-ended questions: “What do you think will happen next?”
5. Daily Life Skills
Let children help with small chores: tidying up, setting the table, feeding pets.
Teach routines: washing hands, brushing teeth, getting dressed.
Encourage responsibility for their belongings.
