Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers.
The Government believes that schools should decide how the Pupil Premium is allocated and spent, since it is felt that they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. From September 2012, schools have been required to publish online information about how they have used the Pupil Premium Grant. This ensures that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by this funding.
So far this year we have provided:
Pupil Premium and Free School Meals
An update for our parents
The Pupil Premium Grant was set up by the government in January 2011. It means that the school will receive additional funds for children who are eligible to receive free school meals or who have received free school meals within the past six years. Therefore, if you think your child might be entitled to free school meals, even if they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 where they automatically receive a free school meal, it will help the school enormously if you register by completing the online application form attached which can be found at https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20025/schools_and_colleges/61/free_school_meals on the Hounslow website. Please do this even if you do not intend your child to have free school meals.
You are entitled to Free School Meals if you are in receipt of
.
If you are entitled to free school meals you are also entitled to free school milk for your child.
As you will be aware, families where pupils are entitled to free school meals will receive vouchers during the school holidays. The school will request these vouchers on your behalf once your entitlement to free school meals is confirmed. Families will receive vouchers to be used in supermarkets and also those for the Holiday and Activity Fund which allow them to book activities up to a determined limit during the school holidays.
Please note that vouchers are only issued to the families of pupils who receive a benefit as detailed above - this does not apply to families of pupils in Reception and Years 1 and 2 receiving universal infant free school meals.
