Rainbow Nursery

Over this next half term we will be focusing on ‘Buses and Transport’, concentrating on the ‘Naughty Bus’ book.

This is a story of a double-decker London bus which is really naughty and it shares its adventures as the story progresses. We will have lots of fun creating our own buses using collages with different shapes, paintings, playdough and junk modelling.

We will have a role play area outdoors in which the pupils can re-enact the events from our focus story with their peers and act like bus drivers and passengers using oyster cards. We look forward to reading lots of different transport books and discovering that they are really exciting and with lots of adventures to be had!

There will also be a ‘Lost Property Office’ role-play area indoors, where the pupils can also use their imagination to recreate roles.

Later in the term, we will be looking at different books with a particular focus on the story ‘The Lost Teddy Bear’. Through this story we will be encouraging pupils to retell the story, to support character role-play and to use vocabulary that reflects the breadth of their experiences.

Last but not least, we are re-setting all areas within the classroom to provide a stimulating environment for the pupils to develop their individual and creative skills in all areas of the curriculum.

We will continue to come together for group carpet sessions in which we learn through stories, songs and group discussions. This term we are carrying out more concentrated phonics groups to help with learning letters and sounds for reading.

We love school!
