Welcome to Year 3!
Welcome back to school! We hope everyone had a restful, enjoyable Easter break.
This term our IPC topic is Temples Tombs and Treasure. This unit focuses on ancient civilizations, Ancient Egyptians, their culture and life-style. Below are some websites you can use for reference at home:

In Literacy this term we will be reading the book ‘African Tales’, which will provide us with great opportunities to come across the culture and tradition of Africa and inspire us to write imaginative setting descriptions, narratives and historical fiction stories. Apart from fiction writing, we will engage with non-fiction writing, learning how to write non-chronological reports and information sheets so as to present various interesting facts about Africa.
In Maths we will be focusing on fractions, data handling and statistics. As always, we would appreciate if you could practice telling the time at home with your child and also helping them with their mental math skills, in particular their times tables and number bonds to 10.
In Science next half term we will be learning about Light. In particular, we will be looking at reflection, the magic world of mirrors, and the formation of shadows and how the light affects our sight as well as how to stay safe in the sun.
Year 3 pupils will continue to have weekly recorder lessons on a Tuesday afternoon. Children may bring home their recorders on Tuesday to practice, but they must be returned to school by Friday at the latest.
In French this term we will be learning about the family. Please encourage your child to share the French they are learning with you at home. Practice makes perfect!
A reminder that homework will continue to go home on a Thursday and it is to be returned on a Tuesday. Once again, we ask that your child does two high quality pieces of work. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Swimming lessons will continue for Indigo class and PE lessons for Lilac Class. Please ensure that if your child is going swimming, they bring a towel, swimming trunks/ one-piece swimming costume, a swimming hat and a waterproof bag to school with them every Wednesday. All other students will need their PE kit, which will stay in school.
We look forward to having another fantastic half term with our pupils!
We love school!
