Following on from the weather warnings issued at the end of last week, school will be open on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July. The school has put in place a number of measures and has updated the hot weather risk assessment which can also be found here.
We would draw parents and carers attention to advice issued by the NHS to keep as cool and safe as possible, which can be found at https://www.england.nhs.uk/2019/07/nhs-top-tips-for-families-to-stay-safe-as-heatwave-marks-start-of-school-holidays/ Please do take care over the weekend period especially on Sunday to remain as safe as possible.
The school has already implemented measures to keep rooms within the school as cool as possible. These include:
In addition to these measures, the following will also apply on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July:
Should your child present with any symptoms or signs of heat exhaustion, the school will telephone you to arrange to collect them. The DfE has made it clear that it does not expect schools to close during this time. We will, however, give an option to parents and carers to collect their child from their classroom door from 3pm on Monday and Tuesday. All pupils must be collected by 3:20pm unless they are booked to attend Ted’s Club. Please note that this does not apply to pupils who have permission to walk home by themselves: they will be released at 3:20pm.
Breakfast and Ted's Club will operate as usual.
