  • Remembering Queen Elizabeth' life and service

Fri 16 Sep 2022 Mrs Sulma

In our celebration assembly last week, pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2 spent some time celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II and held a two minute silence to remember her and her family. Reception pupils thought about who the Queen was and the whole school watched the video of the Queen and Paddington Bear.

Given the sad news, we have kept the display of holiday homework on the theme of the Jubilee up this week so our pupils can see this as a reminder of all she achieved.

Today, pupils were given the option of writing about the Queen and creating condolence messages which we will collate and send to Buckingham Palace. We also thought about how it is natural to be sad sometimes when we hear news.

  • Inspiration for everyone

Sat 10 Sep 2022 Mrs Sulma

On our return to school on Monday 5th September, pupils in Years 1 - 6 joined together in an assembly based on the poem "You" by Kristina Stephenson, which focussed on being unique and the dreams that we all have for the future.

One of our pupils, Aurora, was so inspired by this that she wrote her own poem at home which you can see here. Thank you to Aurora for sharing this with the school in our weekly celebration assembly on Friday, to inspire others just as she was inspired by what she heard in assembly!
