Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As parents and carers will be aware from previous correspondence, the National Education Union's ballot among members has met the threshold for industrial action to be taken.
The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over teachers’ pay, recruitment and the funding crisis in schools, and not because of any issues at our school.
The NEU has posted a document for parents, carers and grandparents that explains their reasons for taking strike action. It can be found at https://neu.org.uk/media/24511/view
Industrial action is due to take place on:
1st February
2nd March
15th March
16th March
From information that the school has received, the school will be partially open on these dates, although parents and carers should be aware that this position may change.
At present, pupils in the following classes will be able to attend school on the dates above:
Reception - Blue Class
Year 2 - Scarlet Class
Year 3 - Indigo and Lilac Classes
Year 4 - Emerald Class
Year 5 - Amber and Saffron Classes
Year 6 - Crimson and Magenta Classes
We understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect and to be understanding. A national strike by teachers is very unusual. Taking strike action is not something that any teacher would take lightly. Those on strike will have thought long and hard about their decision.
If there are any changes to these arrangements, we will contact parents and carers as soon as possible and highlight this on the front page of the website (the scrolling banner).
Today in our weekly Celebration Assembly, we celebrated attendance!
Congratulations to all of our pupils who had attendance over 97% but especially those who achieved 100% attendance in the Autumn Term.
All our pupils who achieved 100% have now received their bronze 100% attendance badge which they may wear as part of their uniform, together with their certificate.
We also had the termly draw from those achieving 100% to see who won the voucher in Early Years and the bicycles in Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6.
The winners were:
Early Years - Dolcie
Years 1 and 2 - Alexandra
Years 3 and 4 - Fatima
Years 5 and 6 - Faith
Following the Christmas break, we have begun a new Story Time each Friday in the hall where parents and carers and their children can enjoy listening to a story read by some of our teachers!
In the first week, Mrs Evans read her favourite book, "Charlie Cook's Favourite Book" by Julia Donaldson, whilst today Miss Kallenbach read "Flat Stanley" by Jeff Brown. It has been lovely to see so many families joining us and we hope this will inspire you to consider visiting your local library to see what other stories you might find there to read together. Which is your favourite book?
We love reading!
